Lilly loves listening to music, going to the cinema, and seeing shows!
She received tickets to our show from St Anne’s Special School as she is visually impaired, has learning difficulties, epilepsy and autism.
The 12 year old came along to our pre- show touch tour with her Mum, Tracey, and her 5 year old twin sisters.
Tracey explained that they experience ‘a lot of challenges’ on their family outings.
“If Lilly has a meltdown when we are out it’s very hard to manage, also with her vision it’s hard for her to enjoy things as she can’t see them.”
Our touch tour is held to help our visually impaired audience members. It gives them the chance to meet our artists, feel and use their props and even use the microphone, which proved to be Lilly’s favourite.
“The touch tour was an amazing experience for her to see everyone close, touch things and speak on the speaker which she loved. It made such a difference as she understood more about the show with meeting everyone first.”
We are so glad that Lilly was able to come along and enjoy the performance thanks to our touch tour.
Her Mum told us how this had an impact on the whole family, “at the show we all felt very happy and relaxed as she was. Other family outings can be hard work if she doesn’t understand what’s happening.”
We’re able to offer this amazing experience to deserving families due to the kind support we receive from businesses in each area that we visit.
Tracey had a message to share with those who helped her family make magical memories.
“We really enjoyed the experience and would like to say thank you so much!”
