Charlie attended our show in Reading with his Mum, Debbie. She told us about her son and his experience at Circus Starr.
“Charlie is 15 years old, has a rare syndrome, is non-verbal and has challenging behaviours and anxiety
He struggles to access many activities which limits what we do as a family. Although it is just the two of us I try to make special memories with him depending on what he can manage at the time.
Charlie loves to kick a ball and enjoys live performances as he has little attention so will not watch TV or play gaming stations, it was lovely to come along to something he could engage with.
I think most people would have heard his squeals of delight especially when Cheeky Chico is up to his antics.
It was so nice to be able to go along to something where it is completely inclusive and nobody cares if your child is loud or isn’t sitting nicely. Seeing him so happy was wonderful after a very tough few months.
As Charlie is non-verbal we use Makaton signing so having all the team signing along to the song at the end of the show was brilliant.
I believe I speak for most families when I say that Circus Starr is a much-needed event that brings us all together for a very fun and enjoyable experience…Thank you.”
