We want everyone to able to experience the magical world of Circus Starr.
That’s why we’re currently working with Joanna Grace, founder of The Sensory Projects, to develop a new sensory story .
Having a sensory story which uses words and sensory stimuli means that we can help children prepare for our performance, particularly those with profound and multiple learning difficulties.
Circus Starr have had Sensory Stories before. We have also had Sensory ambassadors who went into schools to present the story to some of our audience members.
We’ve learnt so much from this experience. We took a look at our feedback and decided that we wanted to do more than just have a sensory story. We wanted to help parents understand them and how to tell them.
After contacting Joanna Grace, who we couldn’t be prouder to be working alongside on this project, we’re excited to be creating a video that can assist parents in delivering a sensory story.
Last week we travelled down to Plymouth to meet Joanna and the lovely Rosa, who will also be featured in the film.
The video will be available to view on our website, and we will also give parents the option to receive a pack with all of the sensory items.
We’re thrilled to be working on this project and can’t wait to have it on offer to benefit our audience soon!
If you feel that you would benefit from receiving a sensory pack or to support us with funding the project please email sarah@circus-starr.org.uk or call 01260 288690.
