This year saw Circus Starr introduce a new sensory story and we are excited to announce that the youngest member of our team has now won an award for her efforts on this project.

Thanks to a collaboration with sensory specialist Joanna Grace, we were really excited to offer The Circus Starr Sensory Story as a new form of support for our audience members!

We wanted to help them find out more about the story through a video.

Rosa, aged 11, took a starring role in the footage by having the story told to her and showing us what it was like to attend the show. She did it so that she could show other people what going to the circus tastes like, what it sounds like, what it smells like.

Since becoming part of our project Rosa has been recognised for her amazing work that will help other disabled children access arts.

Rosa was awarded with the “Young Person’s Award for the 2019 Learning Disability and Autism Leaders”! Congratulations Rosa! You can read more about her winning the award on the Dimensions website.

Her Mum Amy said, “We still talk about Circus Starr and sing the song now and it always brings smiles. Although it is hard for Rosa to understand exactly how she has shared her story with other people she is very proud of the work she has done.”

We really are so happy for Rosa, and feel very proud to have worked with her on this project.
